I had seen Sez when she was doing a much shorter run at the Butterfly Club last year, this seems to be a rejig of that show and now with Token Artists representing them they get to do a lot longer festival-length show which now seems only to be for people with someone backing them and not the smaller acts.
Given that it is pretty much last year’s show with one or two things changed or tightened up I can’t really say that much that would be different than last year. Some of the more hyper-local references have been removed I would say but being that most of it was songs you can go see them again and enjoy them if you liked the songs and the artist.
I liked that there was a backup Omnichord on stage given that Sez would not be able to do the show if she was down one of her instruments.
Some more confidence in Sez herself this year does help the show but not really advanced with some of the super-awkward crowd work. Not sure how much of that is her character or was actually some people being really weird but.
It was a good enough show to start off the night and I look forward to seeing how Sez develops in years to come.
