This was the number one show in the festival I most wanted to see. Thankfully I got a ticket when there was a sale on so I got this one, Sharny’s show and Mel Mglensey’s show in the one go. Imogen Kelly encouraged me to buy a ticket for CUNT straight before it and I went and sat straight up the front and centre of this show after the last show.

I have already recommended this show to another Muppets tragic who came over to Melbourne to see the Muppets programming they had on at ACMI one year (I went to see some of it instead of the AFL Grand Final).

The show is a parody so they are “The Fuppets” to be legally distinct but they do their own thing anyway so it is really only based on the Muppets and not as mean-spirited as a lot of the supposed jokes using the characters I see at least from the memes posted around the place.

Was great that Christa Hughes was in the show, I saw her play live last year with Machine Gun Fellatio as part of the big TISM show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and she was great as the MC. They did not give that full frontal nudity warning for nothing and I got to pull her finger for an epic fart gag in the first song.

There were guest characters in for each night but the main ones were Imogen Kelly as several Muppets, Ira Luxuria as Miss Piggy, Ruby Slippers as the Trash Monster and Kitty Obsidian as Miss Piggy.

No photos for this one as they specifically said two times to put your phones away due to the nudity. Not sure if the “line-up” photos at the end will turn out as I took them on a point and shoot film camera and had trouble winding it off.

The show really does embody the spirit of the original Muppet show even though it is a parody as a lot of good parodies do. The reason why Weird Al is still going strong is that he respects the original source material. You could see how much effort went into the show and sitting so close I could see things fly off costumes and they really went through it during the course of the show.

I even bought along the Blu-ray of LET MY PUPPETS COME I got in the USA for Imogen Kelly after but ended up giving it to Ira Luxuria downstairs after as I wanted to head off and I rarely wait around after shows. It was nice to talk to Isabella Valette at the table downstairs who didn’t pretend not to know me. I am a bit sad not to make her show this time but hopefully at the comedy festival next year.
