The first time I went to this store was in 1998. Was looking for a Leningrad Cowboys with the Red Army Choir album (they had Happy Together but not the concert I wanted.) I had a job in South Melbourne from 2000 to 2006 so could not get to any of the shows without having half a day off. When I started getting regular work in the CBD I was able to visit more often even if it did mean having a 2hr lunch break when I went to shows.

You could tell when I was in-between contracts as I was able to come more often and I had been to a few shows by then. I would try to buy albums when I had the money and was working.

I moved out of Melbourne for a year in 2017 but still went down to visit when I was down for a job interview as I had to move back to Melbourne.

The biggest events for the year were always the Record Store Day shows but I remember stuff like Wagons and Marlon Williams having a lot too. The longest I ended up waiting for someone to turn up was Lil Band ‘O Gold but that was worth it.

I didn’t end up going to the final line-up of gigs as I have sciatica in my leg and the last time I tried in late 2022 my leg hurt too much after half an hour I had to sit down. Can’t stand on hard surfaces for very long and having to ask for a seat like an old person when I go to gigs now.
