I had originally planned to go see Rich Hall but balked at the booking fee and also having to get from the Arts Centre up to near Queen Vic Market in less than an hour on the day of the year with the least public transport. I had recently seen Ray O’Leary at Josh Earl’s Don’t You Know Who I Am panel show so it was an extra bonus. Is at least one other comedian I will see due to that show.

Ray O’Leary is a regular on Have You Been Paying Attention and other shows. He comes across as pretty much the same as on those shows even if they do edit the show to make people seem funnier. I actually liked the extra context to some of the jokes and people laughing at things he did not expect made it funnier.

Was one or two jokes I recognised from the panel show last week but you will use them if they work. One of the funnier ones was about him sitting in the car on the iPad while his mum was inside playing pokies or something like that. He manages to be and adult and also make people think he is a child at the same time.

Aaron Chen and Ray O’Leary both do the character comedy but it is not really a character, just the actual way they are very well. Reminds me of how Aaron Chen supposedly got fired from writing on a show by saying “unambitious?” to a request from a producer that he write more “evergreen” jokes. There is nothing really evergreen here. I don’t think Ray O’Leary would know what a MAFS is and you don’t really notice he hardly mentions any modern pop culture stuff as people expect him to have outdated references by now.

Was one joke relating to it being Good Friday which was good as the only other things I have seen on socials from other comedians is them forgetting everything is closed on that one specific day. It’s every year people!

Due to getting a succulent Chinese meal and them being slow to give me all my food I had to sit up the back which I don’t usually do. Was not too bad, I could still see Ray and he did not really do anything the show that required you to see the entire stage.

Well worth going to see if you enjoy seeing Rat O’Leary in his appearances in various shows and it is a good show for a range of ages as he does not use any language or do anything too outrageous like some of the more “out there” shows.
