Dorothy McGowan plays a parody of herself  Polly Maggoo as she already was a model in France at the time. The popular profile TV show “Who Are You?” decides to make a story about her  with Grégoire Pecque the show’s producer  (Jean Rochefort) on the case. Meanwhile Prince Igor (Sami Frey) has fallen for her and sends his best secret agents to track her down.

While I had heard of William Klein before as his movie MR FREEDOM was borrowed for the music video Sexx Laws (Jack Black does the speech from it), I had not heard of this movie at all before it was listed in the program. It immediately jumped out at me as something I should see. I was also able to get someone else to see it and another person said they had been trying to see it for actual years.

While the mockumentary format is common today, back when this movie was made it was not really that well known. The reason why this movie feels so contemporary is that a lot of the people are just playing themselves or more exaggerated versions of what they were already.

William Klein was a fashion photographer in France before making this movie so a lot of the situations are at least based on real life and her just got people he knew already to play the roles.

You can tell how contemporary it seems when you see footage from the streets where the background extras look like they are from a different time period. I swear some of these people look like people I know already!

I did not expect this movie to be so funny! Up there with Wes Anderson movies for some of the lines that I am not sure were meant to be funny when it was first made but sure are now!

I would 100% recommend this even if you have a passing interest in fashion and the 1960s as it is well worth your time even if you just follow it for that.

Not sure when this is getting an actual release but it seems to be in the festival circuit as they did a 2K scan that this version was played from.
